National Windmill Day Kaag & Braassem

The second weekend in May, the annual National Windmill Day will take place. On this day the millers of Kaag & Braassem open the doors of their mills. You’re more than welcome to visit the mills. The millers will tell you all about their mills and what’s involved with working at mills.

Breakfast with the Miller

National Windmill Day in Kaag & Braassem starts with breakfast at the Vlietmolen in Hoogmade. During breakfast, multiple millers are present. You’ll have the opportunity to ask them questions and to know all about the iconic and monumental mills in the Kaag & Braassem landscape. Registration is mandatory and will cost € 6,00 and the profit will go to the Rijnlandse Mill foundation.

Windmills

Kaag & Braassem has 20 working Windmills. Below you will find an overview of when and where you are welcome during National Windmill Day.

• Rodemolen - RM - Oud Ade - Not yet known
• Akkerslootmolen privately owned - Rijpwetering/Oud Ade - not yet known
• Blauwemolen - RM - Rijpwetering - Open on 11 May (10.00-16.00).
• Adermolen - RM - Rijpwetering – Closed on both days
• Lijkermolen I - RM - Rijpwetering – Closed on both days
• Lijkermolen II - RM - Rijpwetering - Not yet known.
• Buurtermolen - RM - Rijpwetering - Open on 11 May (10.00-16.00). Exhibition of Mill Art. Please note. The Buurtermolen can only be visited over water. No boat? Please call 0031 6 53 54 73 13, and you will be picked up at a nearby point.
• Waterloosmolen - RM - Rijpwetering - Open op on 11 May (10.00-16.00).
• Moppemolen - RM - Rijpwetering - Not yet known.
• Kagermolen - RM - Kaag – Closed because of breeding season in the near souroundings
• Doesmolen - RM - Hoogmade - Open on 11 May (10.00-16.00).
• Kalkmolen - RM - Hoogmade - Open on 11 May (10.00-16.00).
• Vlietmolen - RM - Hoogmade - Not yet known.
• Grosmolen - RM - Hoogmade - Not yet known.
• Hoogmadesemolen - RM - Hoogmade - Open on 11 May (10.00-17.00) and 12 May (12.00-17.00).
• Dekkermolen business property Verbij - Hoogmade  - Can be viewed from the public road on the business premises.
• Googermolen - RM - Roelofarendsveen/Oude Wetering - Open on 11 May (10.00-16.00). There are children’s activities at this Mill and you can hand in your coloring picture here for the coloring competition.
• Veendermolen - RM - Roelofarendsveen - Not yet known.
• Geestmolen privately owned - Rijnsaterwoude - Not yet known.

Children

Children are most welcome at all open windmills. Special children activities are at the Googhermolen in Roelofarendsveen. Here you can hand in your coloring picture for the coloring competition.
