Mills Night

Many windmills in Kaag and Braassem deserve to be in the spotlight. During the Molennacht on Saturday 14 September 2024 we will actually take care of this. Extra activities are organized at a number of windmills.

NOTE

• * These mills are not open to the public during the evening.
• Preferably come by bike
• Most mills cannot be reached by car with the exception of the Vlietmolen in Hoogmade, you can park your car at the football club MMO.

Activities

After the successful walk in Rijpwetering in 2023 we can say: It’s an adventurous walk in through the pitch black Dutch landscape with mills as an illuminated beacon to guide you. A once in a life-time experience! Therefore there will be two guided walking tours in 2024.

Guided walking tour along the illuminated mills: Rijpwetering

14 September 20.30-22.30

Together with a guide who has knowledge of mills, you will walk to 4 illuminated mills in Rijpwetering: Akkerslootmolen, Waterloosmolen, Lijkermolen I and Lijkermolen II. You not only get a chance to talk to the millers and ask them any question you may have, you also will experience how special these mills are and why they are so important to us and to the landscape.

The walk is approximately 7 kilometers
Start and ends at the Vergulde Vos in Rijpwetering at 20.30 hrs
Costs: € 3.00

Guided walking tour along the illuminated mills: Hoogmade and Leiderdorp

Together with a guide who has knowledge of mills, you will walk to 7 illuminated mills in in Hoogmade (Kalkmolen, Doesmolen, Dekkermolen) and Leiderdorp (Doeshofmolen, Achthovensemolen, Munnikenmolen, Meerburgermolen). You not only get a chance to talk to the millers and ask them any question you may have, you also will experience how special these mills are and why they are so important to us and to the landscape. On top of that, you will have the opportunity to take amazing pictures of the illuminated mills
